📝 Admission Guidelines & Eligibility Criteria

At Karur Polytechnic College, we follow a transparent and student-friendly admission process in accordance with the Government of Tamil Nadu and DOTE norms. Admissions are open for First Year and Lateral Entry (Direct Second Year) into diploma courses across all seven departments.

🎯 Eligibility Criteria

🔹 Admission to First Year Diploma – 3 Years Duration

Minimum Qualification: Pass in 10th Standard (SSLC) from a recognized board.
Age Limit: No upper age limit.
Medium of Instruction: English / Tamil.
Applicable for: All seven diploma courses (Mechanical, EEE, CSE, ECE, Auto, Biomedical, Civil).

🔹 Lateral Entry (Direct Admission to Second Year) – 2 Years Duration

Eligible candidates can gain direct entry into the second year of diploma courses under the following qualifications:

Pass in HSC (12th Grade) – Any group (Science, Commerce, Vocational).
OR Pass in ITI (2 Years) – In any trade from a recognized institute.
Lateral Entry Stream: Applied to the same course domain or related fields based on DOTE guidelines.

Candidates must submit the following documents (original + photocopies):
  • 10th Mark Sheet
  • 12th Mark Sheet / ITI Certificate (if applicable for lateral entry)
  • Transfer Certificate (TC)
  • Community Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates)
  • Aadhar Card
  • Passport Size Photographs – 4 copies
  • Eligibility Certificate (for other state students, if required)
  • Commencement: As per DOTE calendar (typically May–August every year)
  • Mode: Direct admission at college campus
  • Counselling: College-level counselling based on merit and availability
  • Spot Admissions: Offered for eligible candidates until seats are filled
Affordable fee ranging from ₹18,000 to ₹23,000 annually.
Scholarship Opportunities:
  • Government scholarships for SC/ST/SCA/SCC students.
  • Pragati Scholarship – Up to ₹50,000 for meritorious students.
  • First Graduate Scholarship for eligible candidates.
